We hope you’ll stop by our store
after visiting the marvelous
Kenrokuen garden.
Kenrokuen was cherished by the successive lords of the Kaga Domain ruled by the Maeda family.
This garden was created over the span of roughly 170 years from the times of Tsunanori, the 5th head of the Maeda family, to the times of Nariyasu, the 13th head .
The garden takes its name, meaning “a garden with six beauties,” from its six characteristics: spaciousness, tranquility, artistic ingenuity, antiquity, water, and magnificent views.
Some of the garden’s many highlights include a rare two-legged stone lantern, a fountain said to be Japan’s oldest, and Karasaki no Matsu, a pine tree planted by Nariyasu, the 13th head.
